Braided Horsehair
A little note for braided horsehair items: These items are made from the tail hair of the horse. The artist (that would be me, Jacquee' Gillespie) hand makes each one after carefully washing and then counting out each hair. To see how this process happens, please see the Braided Horsehair Bracelet, Step by Step page. There are two pages and the link to the second page is at the bottom of the first. This should help you to understand the lengthy process that is behind this nearly lost traditional art of horsehair braiding.
All horsehair items are available as both stock (from my supply of horsehair) and custom made from your own horse's hair. There is no extra charge for custom work.

IMPORTANT - Each item is hand made one at a time. This is true of both the stock braided horsehair jewelry and the custom braided horsehair jewelry. Please allow at least 2 - 4 weeks for delivery. If you need an item for a special occasion please contact me and if I can I will accomodate you. But the best idea is to plan ahead!
SPECIAL NOTE FOR MANE HAIR: If you are sending mane hair for tassels, then read no further! This does not apply to you. For those of you wanting me to braid mane hair into bracelets or other items, please keep reading.
Mane hair is NOT suitable for the type of braiding that I do. It is too weak and thin to make a good product. Furthermore it is very time consuming to work. Please understand that there is a $250.00 extra charge per item for working mane hair. This is to help offset the tremendous amount of time required. Again, this does NOT apply to my regular tassels made from mane hair, the earrings and so on. Mane hair is perfect for tassels, it is simply not suitable for braiding. Thanks for your understanding!

25-strand Double Flat Braid Horsehair Bracelet

This bracelet comes in stock colors of black, sorrel or white, and can be made custom from your own horse's hair. It requires one lock of hair the size of a pencil, and can be as short as 9" long. New "Friends Forever" Bracelet!
At long last - it's finished!
The new bracelet and necklace are finally here! Friends Forever celebrates that special relationship that horse lovers have with their horses - even if that horse is no longer here, the love stays. If you look closely you'll see a channel at the top and bottom of the bracelet, where a few precious hairs from your friend can be inset. This is a great use of those very few hairs you might have been saving all these years. The braided horsehair sides complement the sterling perfectly. The bracelet is adjustable, but I need a wrist measurement to be sure and make it the correct length for you. You need very little hair for this - a piece about as big around as your finger, and only 10" long, will do it. If you no longer have hair from that special friend I can make it from my stock of hair, matching your horse as closely as possible. This is a wonderful use of a bit of mane hair, since mane hair is too hard to braid. These are lightweight and fun. The cones and earwires are sterling silver and they are topped off with a genuine gemstone bead.
